Alvi's Drift, 221 Chenin Blanc 750ml 2019

In 1928, at the age of 19-year old, founder Albertus Viljoen van der Merwe (AKA Alvi), scored the first try in history against the All-Blacks Rugby team on African soil. He went on to be selected as the 221st player to play for the South African national rugby team, the Springboks. The 221 wine range pays tribute to Alvi and the Springbok winning team.

'Entirely produced from free-run juice, this is typical of the winery's full-flavoured style. Combining a small wooded component with 80% that's fermented in stainless steel to emphasise the passion fruit and orange zest fruit, this is vanilla spicy and appealing at a price that most people can afford. The family-owned Alvi’s Drift, located in the Breede River Valley, was created in 1928 and gets its name from the Drift which was built near the farm.
