'Delaire Graff's varietal Merlot hails from a 1999 block planted at 380 metres. Elegant, textured and scented, it's at the lighter end of the spectrum, despite its 14.5% alcohol, with leafy tannins, 60% new wood and a textured, fine-grained mid palate. Drink 2020-25.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 92/100

'Forthcoming fruitcake & tobacco aromas open up 2017; sweet, succulent fruit with no great intensity, & fresh herbal twist on lingering finish. Balanced, with rounded but firm tannins. 80% new oak will integrate. 14.6% alcohol. Should keep good few years. Ex estate’s oldest single-vineyard.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (90/100)

'Firm and well balanced, this Merlot is characterised by spicy, dark plum and berry flavours, whilst silky, ripe tannins ensure a long and lingering finish.' – Winemaker

Producer information The Delaire Graff Estate, surrounded by the breathtaking views of the Stellenbosch Valley, offers wine, art, dining and hospitality. Founded in the early 1980s, the estate has changed dramatically over the years. Delaire Graff's award-winning wines rank amongst the most prestigious in the Southern Hemisphere. Their unique terroir, which is a combination of maritime and mountain, is something their ambitious winemaker explores harvest after harvest. The cool Atlantic sea breeze which washes over their vineyards is what gives their fruit a rich intensity.
