'Grapes from diverse areas supply this always-excellent, wood-dabbed premium sauvignon. Now bottled, 2019 (5 stars, 95 pts) rich, round, tropical fruit & wet pebble minerality perfectly aligned with creamy vanilla from oak. Concentrated & intense at laudably moderate 13% alcohol. Also-tasted 2020 includes Ceres fruit, similar styling but not same depth, sophistication.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (91/100)

'Pale straw in colour, this wine presents an explosion of fresh lime, lemon thyme and asparagus aromas with pronounced intensity. The flavour profile comprises zesty granadilla with a slight chalkiness and wet stone. A young, mediumbodied wine with high natural acidity and exceptionally long finish that has magnificent ageing potential to become fuller over time. Decant slowly to ensure optimum drinking pleasure.' – Winemaker

Producer information The De Grendel farm, situated on the slopes of Tygerberg Hill, dates back to 1720 with the first owner, businessman Claas Meyboom. In 1891, Dawie Graaff, the mayor of Cape Town, bought De Grendel farm, and it has been in the Graaff family ever since. The first De Grendel wines were made in 2003 from the Graham Beck cellars, and in 2004, De Grendel opened their own wine cellars. With their 330 hectares of land, the Graaff family has a respect for nature and the environment. De Grendel is a member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI), is a carbon-negative farm, uses solar energy and follows water wise principles. In addition to wine farming the estate also does dairy farming.
