'BOOK XVII has an opulent crème de-cassis, fruitcake and fig scented bouquet with a palate that is ostentatious. However, this full-bodied turbo-charged wine is so silky smooth and seductive in a way that its charms are impossible to resist. Previously voted as South Africa’s Best Luxury Wine, the ultra-luxurious Book XVII recently also secured itself the title as South Africa’s Highest Rated Wine Ever by the esteemed USA publisher, Wine Enthusiast Magazine.' – De Toren

'The sensational Book XVII 2018 is truly a celebration of this vintage’s magnificent expression of fruit, its impressively bold characteristics, yet subtle elegance. This, along with the team’s extraordinary devotion and expertise invested in crafting this one-of-a-kind wine, makes for an exceptional combination.' – Charles Williams, Cellar Master

Tasting notes on the 2017 vintage:
'There's a slight warmth upfront on the nose of this bold wine, with pronounced wood spice and sweet oak tones that ride atop the plush cassis, blackberry and black plum fruit. The palate is bold and quite firmly structured at present, with oodles of oak-fueled spice that overlay, but don't completely overwhelm, the just-ripe black currant and plum flavors. It's firm and structured, but with good balance and the promise of great longevity. Drink after 2025 and through 2035.' – Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100

Producer information De Toren acquired their first vineyards in 1991 and redefined the Bordeaux concept in South Africa ever since, establishing an iconic following. With the De Toren Fusion V, first the blends were decided upon and thereafter the vines were planted to match the blend. At De Toren the pursuit for perfection is evident in their grape selection and harvesting. They aim to ‘create an environment where vines produce flawless fruit and then guard these grapes as they are gently steered from vineyard, to cellar to bottle’ – De Toren.
