'The top Syrah from De Trafford is all sourced from this isolated, picturesque estate’s own vineyards at the top of the Blaauwklippen Road. More Cornas than Côte Rotie, it's thick, opaque and tannic, with huge structure, fynbos and garrigue notes, lots of meat and spice and the concentration to age further in bottle. About De Trafford:
De Trafford winery is situated at a height of 380 metres between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, on a farm called Mont Fleur. Only 18 years after its purchase in 1976, could the vineyards be planted due to quota restrictions. The property is owned and run by the Trafford family with David Trafford as winemaker, and they follow a "mindful" approach to winemaking.
