Joostenberg, Die Agteros Chenin Blanc 2019 Bottle size: 750mlSouth Africa, Stellenbosch
'Supple, ripe and sweetly oaked in one-third new barrels, Tyrrel Myburgh's Paarl Chenin has plenty of colour and concentration, notes of honey and cinnamon spice, appealing texture and enough acidity to freshen and lengthen the finish. Very drinkable. Drink 2020-23.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 90/100
'A delicate wine with a complex array of aromas and flavours. Hints of baked apple, honey and flint stone. The palate is rich, yet elegant and is marked by a subtle, creamy texture.' – Winemaker
Alc: 12% | RS: 1.3 g/L | TA: 4.9 g/L | PH: 3.47
Tasting notes on the 2018 vintage:
'Die Agteros is a pure Paarl Chenin Blanc from Tyrrel Myburgh's historic farm and it's always a pleasure to drink. Combining umami wild yeast notes and a combination of concrete egg and 19% new oak fermentation, it has appealing peach and aniseed flavours and a supple finish. Drink 2019-22.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 90/100
