Elmie, Rosé 750ml 2018

This is a collaboration between winemaker Reg Holder (ex-Delheim) and Etienne Terblanche. Ettiene, the new viticultural wunderkind from Thistle and Weed, also consults for Alheit Vineyards and Oldenburg amongst others. Pinotage has always been very successful as a rosé as it is early-ripening and expressive with lovely floral, musk and tart strawberry notes. The inspiration here is Provence and they have done a great job! Pale in colour, pretty on the nose and dry and fresh to finish.

'Local rosé was until recently a rather weak category but some more considered efforts are starting to emerge, the Elmie 2018 a case in point. Made by Reg Holder, previously of Delheim, working in conjunction with viticulturist Etienne Terblanche from Stellenbosch Pinotage, it’s an understated offering.
