The Flying Cloud Sovereign of the Seas 2018 was named Best Pinot Noir in the Winemag Prescient Top 20 Wines South Africa 2020 Report.

Tasting notes:
'20% whole-bunch fermentation. Matured for 20 months in two 300-litre barrels, one new and one third-fill. A pronounce and very attractive note of rose-like perfume as well as red berries, white pepper and other spice. The palate has succulent fruit, bright acidity and powdery tannins. Particularly pure and poised.' – Winemag Prescient Pinot Noir Report 2020, 94/100

'Exotic, fragrant incense & pomegranate on 2018, from pinot noir on cool Outeniqua slopes. Natural ferment; oak 50% new, 20 months. Dry, firm tannic structure, lovely freshness & acidity. Balanced, complex & elegant; more charm to come with time.' – Platter's Guide, 4.5* (93/100)

Alc: 13%

About Flying Cloud:
Donald Ackerman, founder of Flying Cloud wines, began making wine in 2013. He first set about finding the perfect name for his wine which, after much research, he took from the most famous clipper ship ever built. The ‘Flying Cloud’ was built by Donald McKay and set the world's sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco in the 1840's. The wines produced under Flying Cloud are hand-crafted, site-specific wines sourced from special parcels of fruit from cool climate areas, and are unique expressions of their terroir.
