'The true Beauty of Albe is the caress of the sun that rises three times every morning over our vineyards. It’s the exceptional simplicity of nature that makes the awakening of life an everyday miracle.' – Milena Vaira

Tasting notes:
'If you were to consider the entire portfolio of wines made in the Barolo appellation, this wine always stands in its own little corner. Albe is a brand on its own, and it represents one of the most versatile, accessible and well-priced Baroli to emerge from the appellation. The G.D. Vajra 2016 Barolo Albe sets off on the right foot, offering forthcoming intensity with forest fruit, wild cherry, crushed stone and blue flowers. Winemaking is straightforward in stainless steel, and the wine finishes in Slavonian oak casks. Some 40,000 bottles are hitting the market now. Drink 2022 - 2035.' – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 94/100 (Jul 2020)

'Elegant and expressive, this red evokes cherry, raspberry and floral notes, aligned to a refined structure. This is balanced and leaves an aftertaste of fruit, tobacco and iron. Best from 2023 through 2043.' – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Oct 2020)

'Vajra's Barolo Albe is bright, floral and wonderfully lifted in 2016. Sweet tobacco, cedar, blood orange, mint, licorice, dried red cherry and sage give the 2016 lovely savory brightness to match its mid-weight structure. Gracious and light on its feet, the Albe has so much to offer. Drink 2021 - 2031.' – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 91/100 (Feb 2020)

About GD Vajra:
GD Vajra estate is named after Giuseppe Domenico Vajra who founded the estate in 1972. Located in the highest village of Barolo, the vineyards are run by Giuseppe's son Aldo and his family. The vineyards sit at high altitudes of up to 400 metres, this creates thermal changes which ripen the fruit slowly and allow the concentration of noble and delicate aromas. GD Vjara have been pioneers of organic farming since 1971.
