La Nave is made from selected vineyards from villages that span the three sub regions of the D.O.Ca Rioja: Rioja Alta, Rioja Oriental and Rioja Alavesa. A traditional blend of vineyards, varieties and soils under one macroclimate that over the last 10 decades has allowed winemakers to produce wines of consistent quality during each vintage. A blending tradition that has led to some of the most iconic wines in Rioja, expressing the diversity of Rioja.

Tasting notes:
'The red blend 2018 Lanave was produced with equal parts of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo from small plots in different parts of Rioja. It was produced in a light and approachable style; it's fruit driven, with notes of berries, and has a medium body with fine chalky tannins. It's straightforward but serious, very representative of the wines from Rioja. It fermented with natural yeasts in concrete vats, where it matured for 12 months until bottling. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2019. Drink 2020 - 2023.' – Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, 90+/100 (Oct 2020)

'This wine has a medium ruby colour dominated by primary fruit aromas of strawberry, cherries and black berries. The palate is light and textured with a soft and balanced tannin. Good acidity, body and length.' – Winemaker

Producer information Former Young Gun, Bryan MacRobert, moved to Rioja 7 years ago to start Laventura. Today, his new terroir-driven wines are causing a fuss! ‘I want to make Rioja as it once was. I’m trying to make honest wines,’ says Bryan whose wines are refreshing, innovative and true-to-terroir style of Rioja. With cellars located in the centre of La Rioja, they source high-quality grapes from the whole region. The vineyards are often 40 to 90 years old and harvesting is done by hand. ‘It’s time to take Rioja far more seriously,’ writes Tim Atkin MW as the Rioja landscape changes dramatically.
