La Gravette de Certan is the second wine of Vieux Château Certan which was introduced in 1986.

Tasting notes:
'The 2017 La Gravette de Certan, made from the estate's young vines (under 25 years of age) is soft, open-knit and inviting. In this vintage, the Gravette is especially floral and perfumed, which gives it tons of immediacy and sheer appeal. Rose petal, sweet red berries, licorice and mint are all laced into the very pretty, nuanced finish. I would prefer to drink the 2017 over the next decade or so. Drink 2022 - 2032.' – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 92/100

'Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 La Gravette de Certan leaps from the glass with exuberant scents of blueberry preserves, blackberry compote and black cherries with hints of violets, menthol, chocolate box and aniseed. Medium-bodied, the palate has a generous amount of expressive blue and black fruit flavors, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Drink 2022 - 2038.' – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 92/100

'The second wine of Vieux Château Certan, this is produced from young vines. Still with plenty of tannins, it has structure although the fruit is already beginning to shine through. It offers spice and good acidity, and is likely to be ready from 2022.' – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100

About Vieux Château Certan:
Vieux Château Certan is one of the oldest Bordeaux properties in Pomerol. The estate’s history dates back to almost 1770. In 1924, the château was sold to the Belgian wine merchant Georges Thienpont. This successful businessman wanted to know which of his clients were buying his wine. To get this information, he decided to place the now famous pink capsule on the bottle. Thanks to this technique, Georges was easily able to see if his clients were purchasing his cuvée without having to ask them. Located at the top of the Pomerol plateau, the château is currently managed by Alexandre Thienpont. The vineyard is composed of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Being well-positioned and one of the oldest Pomerol properties, its wines are also some of the most sought-after.
