| Producer information | The boutique winery, L’Avenir, was named by Mark Wiehe, a Mauritian businessman, who purchased the estate in 1992. However, the estate’s history spans back to the 1600s when it was one of the first sites identified for grape growing by the Cape’s earliest European settlers. In 2005, Michel Laroche (of the Chablis property, Laroche) acquired L’Avenir and continued specialising in Pinotage and Chenin Blanc just as former owner, Mark Wiehe and winemaker, Francois Naudé had done. Today, Dirk Coetzee is the winemaker of L’Avenir and focuses on producing site specific wines from their Stellenbosch sites. |
