Tasting notes
Trimbach, Riesling Réserve 2020
'The Reserve’s quality comes from a rigorous selection of fully ripe grapes from the Ribeauvillé region. 5, 6 plots with marl-limestone soils, old vines of over 45 years on average, this elegant Riesling is dry, precise, with a marked acidity characteristic of coin de Ribeauvillé.' – Winemaker

‘Very youthful, unformed nose. I suspect this will be much more expressive in a year or two, although in time it did open out a bit in the glass to some Riesling steeliness. Real nerve and excitement on the palate. Still very youthful and tight but all the ingredients, plus enormous extract, are there.’ – Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16++/20
Trimbach, Riesling 2020
‘Its delicate bouquet, beautiful balance, dry character, distinguished fruitiness and natural liveliness contribute to its exceptional richness. As required by the house style, it is vinified dry, straight, and precise, every year.’ – Winemaker
The 2020 vintage has not yet been rated. See the note below for the 2018 vintage.
‘Slight reduction still shows on the nose of this wine, but promises freshness. The palate comes in with uncommon brightness and slenderness for 2018 and seems to make a show of its uncompromising tartness, but there is concentration galore. The finish is dry and all about zesty citrus.’ – Anne Krebiehl MW, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100
Trimbach, Clos Ste Hune 2017
‘Highly aromatic on the nose, revealing hints of pear, lime, white pepper, candied ginger, quince and even raspberry. Enters sweet, then turns more austere and piercing. The penetrating, long, very suave finish offers complex, concentrated flavors similar to the aromas. That rare note of raspberry repeats in the mouth. A readier-to-drink CSH than usual, but it will age well. The Clos has been organically farmed since eight years ago, and I while I am very careful about making blanket statements on this subject, I think that the wines are now even better than they were before. Whether it’s the organic farming or not, I don’t know, but the possible connection is intriguing, to say the least. 2025-2035’ – Ian D’Agata, Vinous, 96/100
Trimbach, Frédéric Emile 2014
‘So much mineral and sliced apple character with hints of orange and apple peel. Turns to steely character. Full-bodied, racy and bright. So lively. Great finish. Drink or hold on release.’ – James Suckling, 96/100
