Vergelegen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 – Drinking pleasure guaranteed
‘Vergelegen's wines show… sensitivity and attention to detail, as illustrated by a tasting of their Cabernet Sauvignon back to 1998,’ wrote Richard Hemming MW, for JancisRobinson.com in July 2012, ‘it shows a pleasing aptitude for maturity, generally peaking between ten and 15 years.’ He went on to say, ‘the overall impression from this vertical was one of a reliable, credible and impressive wine with great typicality and a long, promising future.’
We have secured a rare parcel of the ready-to-enjoy 2008 Vergelegen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. From one of the best Cabernet winemakers in the country, and sourced directly from the cellar, we are able to offer this wine at a remarkable price. If you love SA Cabernet Sauvignon, this is keenly-priced and has been perfectly matured for you.
After recently tasting the 2008, André van Rensberg’s skill is evident. It is particularly delicious right now, with a generous and deep core of red and dark fruit, laced with earthy, bouquet garni complexity. The tannins are nicely resolved and support the attractive, poised and tertiary character with a juicy, satisfying finish. This should easily go for another 5 years, but why wait!
Furthermore, this particular small parcel was bottled under screw cap, which ensures no undue bottle variation or cork failure – drinking pleasure guaranteed. At the same price as the current release, this 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is the ideal chance to remind oneself just how good Vergelegen is. Please note, this is a limited parcel of wine.
