Clemens Busch – The finest Mosel Rieslings
Clemens is the 5th-generation winemaker at his family estate and began using organic practices in 1984. Later a pioneer in biodynamics, Clemens Busch is now a role model for natural, but precise German winemaking. Unlike most of the Mosel region, however, Clemens focuses on dry, elegant Rieslings that express the complex terroir of this historic region. Their unique soils in the town of Pündericher allow them to produce many iterations of the Riesling grape. Clemens Busch is based on the 3 types of slate – red, blue and grey – each imparting different characteristics and styling.
Today, we’re offering a dry and an off-dry Riesling from the lovely 2018 vintage, which is being hallowed for its ripe, clean flavours underpinned by fine structure. While their dry wines are some of the finest, long-ageing Rieslings in all of Germany, the off-dry Kabinett is ‘picture-book… at a very reasonable price’ says Wine Advocate.
‘The wines are rather lean, elegant and very charming and are provided with ripe, lush fruit,’ writes Wine Advocate on their 2016 and 2017s with scores up to 98/100! Please contact Jolette if you would like to receive an offer on the limited single vineyards of Fahrlay, Falkenlay, Rothenpfad, Felsterrasse and Raffes. Look out for a tasting of all the Clemens Busch Rieslings in the new year.
