‘Deserving of SA icon status’: Cape Point Vineyards’ 5-star Isliedh 2018
With its pedigree, terroir expression and evident consistency vintage after vintage, the Cape Point Vineyards Isliedh is now firmly established as one of SA’s finest whites. To go along with its Platter’s 5* and 96/100 from Tim Atkin, the 2018 also received 95/100 and ‘Best Wine Overall’ in Winemag’s Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon blend report.
Always poised and finely crafted, with complex aromas of white flowers, blackcurrant, fynbos and distinct smokiness, the 2018 Isliedh is seamless on entry with delineated fruit purity, linear acid structure and a moreish salinity on the finish. This is a SA benchmark. While both cellar and investment-worthy, it is first and foremost delicious!
Produced from vineyards established by Rosa Kruger, the 2018 Isliedh is sourced from south-facing vineyards situated high on the Cape Point peninsula overlooking Noordhoek. This harsh, marginal climate is perfect for producing wines of character and, now under the stewardship of the gifted Riandri Visser, the Isliedh has become arguably SA’s finest Bordeaux white. As for the 2018, it’s one of the finest to date but, as with so many of our great wines, its availability is limited.
