'This wine has a beautiful deep garnet colour. Aromas of cassis, blackberries and blueberries burst from the glass with underlying notes of cedar wood and tobacco spice. There are flavours of dark briary fruit, dried Italian herbs and notes of five spice on the palate. The entry is full and rich leading to a textured dry finish. This wine is great companion at a braai before, during and after. Pairs especially well with herb crusted rack of Lamb.' – Miles Mossop, Winemaker

Tasting notes on the 2018 vintage:
'Like the Introduction White, the red over-delivers at the price. With a nod to the Cape blends of the past, this is Cabernet Sauvignon based with 38% Cinsault, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Firm, concentrated yet refreshing, it benefits form the juiciness and vibrancy of the Cinsault. Drink 2021-24.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 91/100

'60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cinsault, 15% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc – Cinsault appearing for the first time in this wine. Matured for 18 months in older oak. Aromatics of red and black berries, a particular leafy note plus a hint of pencil shavings. Medium bodied with clean fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins, the finish long and dry.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 90/100
