This lower alcohol unwooded blend of 84% Pinotage and 16% Cinsault is made from grapes sourced from old vineyards in the Swartland appellation, for open generosity of palate in the year of production. The richness and depth of the Pinotage is freshened by the lightness and brightness of the Cinsault.

Tasting notes:
'Planted in 1972 and 1974, with Old Vine Project status on the cards, this is an unwooded, separately fermented cuvée of Pinotage and 18% Cinsault. Aromatic, very pure and refined, it has racy acidity, some granitic backbone and layers of summer pudding fruit. Drink 2020-25.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 92/100

'W.O. Swartland. A blend of 84% Pinotage from a 1973 certified heritage vineyard and 14% Cinsault. Unwooded, this shows red cherry, cranberry, musk and a little fynbos on the nose. The palate has plenty of juicy fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins. A cheerful, charming wine.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 90/100
