'Mid ruby. More lifted than the 2018 initially, showing the influence of some stems, perhaps, or just the cooler nights in this vintage? A hint of pepper. Bright sour-cherry fruit, a touch herbal, and seems more vibrant even though it is a year older. The flavours are slightly rubbery, not quite as scented on the palate as I expected from the aroma but it is more spicy and seems to show the oak influence slightly more even though it has had longer in bottle – more woody than oaky. Spicy on the finish too but still fresh and with plenty of fruit. The tannins are a little drier and firmer than on the 2018 and although I generally like the effect of whole-bunch on Pinot, this does not seem quite as harmonious as the 2018 (yet), though it might age better in the longer term and it is overall more elegant and refreshing.' – Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20
