The Cornerstone has always been an important wine within the Reyneke range, with the proceeds of this wine helping farm workers and their families with education, housing and retirement annuities. Reyneke believes that the workers are the cornerstone of the business, which is an integral part of the holistic and biodynamic principles, that Reyneke follows.

Blend: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Cabernet Franc and 14% Merlot

Tasting notes:
'Cornerstone is Reyneke's Bordeaux style red blend, produced from a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon with 46% Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Grassy, fresh and intense, with plenty of underlying structure and ageing potential, well-integrated 30% new wood and more focus than preceding releases. Drink 2021-25.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 92/100

'This classical Bordeaux style blend combines feshness with real concentration, showcasing the best of Stellenbosch. Intense notes of blackcurrant, star anise, thyme with underlying dark fuit complete the nose of this blend. A core of dark fuit on the palate, combined with a good tannin structure and great complexity, makes this wine linger on the palate.' – Winemaker

Alc: 13.9% | RS: 1.9 g/L | TA: 5.5 g/L | PH: 3.59

About Reyneke:
Reyneke is one of 5 Stellenbosch properties to get First Growth status in Tim Atkin’s 2017 SA Report. Reyneke farm began in 1863 when it was then named ‘Uitzicht’, meaning ‘view’. It is located overlooking Stellenbosch and False Bay with north, south and east facing slopes. Reyneke is certified organic and biodynamic and follows sustainable practices in everything they do. ‘Their wines demonstrate the care they take, not infallible wines, rather honest and personality-driven wines that are distinctive, as much cerebral as sensory experiences,’ says Neal Martin.
