'Fully-loaded flagship delivers familiar finessed power in 2018, sublime fruit intensity & silky texture, subtle herbaceous & floral nuances adding charm. 76% shiraz with mourvèdre & grenache, dashes viognier & (for 1st time) roussanne.' – Platter's Guide, 5* (96/100)

'Classy and restrained nose of black fruits, graphite and spicy oak. Hugely concentrated on the palate bursting with black fruit, spicy oak and a vivacious acidity.' – Decanter World Wine Awards, 95/100 (Gold)

'Always among the outstanding wines in Tulbagh, Dewaldt Heyns' plush, intensely fruited red marries Shiraz with 21% Grenache, Mourvèdre, Viognier and Roussanne in a sweet, ripe, full-throttle style with lots of spicy, toasty new wood and intense blueberry and blackberry fruit. Ripe, heady stuff. Drink 2022-28.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 94/100

'This acclaimed wine has a deep, dark purple colour with prominent ripe plum and red berry flavours combined with floral notes and undertones of spice. The oak is well balanced with full, firm yet accessible tannins. A wine of depth, complexity and grace.' – Winemaker

Producer information Saronsberg is located in Tulbagh at the foot of a mountain from which it gets its name. It contains two, very different sites which produce grapes of contrasting characteristics. The farm was acquired in 2002 and winemaking began with their first harvest in 2004. This vintage saw Saronsberg earning a number of awards for their wine, and they have produced wines of consistent quality since. Saronsberg is a member of the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW), which is a voluntary environmental sustainability scheme established by the South African wine industry in 1998.
