Winshaw Vineyards says that the origin of the name of this wine comes from their great grandfather, Dr. William Charles Winshaw who was born in the USA. He ran away from home when he was 12 years old. A lucky bet on a horse and a few winning games of faro saw him become a professional gambler for part of his life. His whole life was a gamble from the moment he ran away from home, his expedition to South Africa, and eventually starting to make wine in South Africa.

Tasting notes:
'This wine has a spicy, dry entry. With time it developes in the glass to display rhubarb, raspberry and grapefruit. Rounded off with savoury and umami notes. It is a versatile food wine. Its freshness will pair well with fresh seafood but the umami notes add another dimension into Asian inspired foods.' – Winemaker
