Winshaw Vineyards says that the origin of the name of this wine comes from their great grandfather, Gideon Johannes Joubert. His foresight and dedication in the wine industry made it possible for them to produce and present this elegant wine to the world. His nickname was given to him by the fox stamp that was used to mark his fruit when it was deliver to the co-ops.
Tasting notes:
'The Usana Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium to full bodied wine with soft tannins. It has a rich, ruby coloured, is soft on the palate and displays typical hints of dark berries, spice, cigar box and a touch of vanilla. It is a beautifully balanced wine. The wine is drinking superbly at the moment but can still mature for another 3-5years. The wine complements dishes like roast beef, lamb chops, stews, and steak.' – Winemaker

| Producer information | Usana, founded in 2003 by brothers JP and Pierre Winshaw, is located in Klein Welmoed in Stellenbosch. Usana meaning ‘a baby’ or ‘a new beginning’ in Xhosa, represents the start of a new venture for the family. They produce a range of wines as well as pasture-reared beef, lamb and eggs on the Winshaw Family Farm. |
