Waterkloof, Seriously Cool Cinsault 2019 – R 140
'The old bush vines gave rise to a soft, balanced tannin structure and elevated length. This wine is playful in its aromas with pronounced floral and perfume notes, backed by a savoury undertone. I enjoy going back to my glass to appreciate the complexity. In the mouth, the prominent fruit aromatics are complemented by soft tannins that develop effortlessly. This wine can be enjoyed on its own, but also pairs well with a variety of dishes, especially duck or a pork-belly inspired dish.' – Nadia Langenegger

La Brune, The Valley Pinot Noir 2019 – R 155
'The 2019 Muros Antigos Escolha is a blend of 40% Loureiro, 40% Avesso and 20% Alvarinho, unoaked and 'The Valley Pinot Noir is all about attitude. Blended from the best Pinot Noir clones (PN 777 and PN 667) in the Elgin Valley this wine is a bit in your face and quickly lets you know what it is about. Rich fruit on the nose with some perfume and orange peel. It is vibrant, full of energy and pulls you right into that glass. After dreaming for a while you take that first sip and are blown away. Big mid-palate from the PN 777 which is a bit rich with some ripe red fruit, but then PN 667 comes through and tightens up the palate and adds that freshness, length and minerality. You find yourself finishing the glass so quickly… It is simple: great Pinot makes you thirsty!'. – Nico Grobler, winemaker

Rossouw, Gouws & Clarke, Dry Red 2020 – R 160
'This is our Pinotage – a 52 year old bushvine vineyard, grown on Langkloof Farm using organic practices by Scholtz Rossouw. Made again by Jurgen Gouws, with 80% of the fruit fermented whole bunch under semi-carbonic conditions for 10 days. The other 20% of the fruit was pressed earlier and fermented as a rosé and blended back in after malolactic fermentation. The resultant wine has a juicier mid-palte compared with previous vintages, loads of cherry and raspberry fruit with that characteristic pomegranate tang. We absolutely adore northern Italian reds here at Ex Animo. Pinotage, weirdly enough, when made without massive extraction and from quality fruit, can remind us of a crunchy Dolcetto d’Alba. Trizanne Signature Wines, TSW Syrah 2019 – R 120
'Beautifully ripe and fresh black and red fruits on the nose accompanied by some aromatic spice – black pepper and cardamom – with some dust and warm earth undertones. On the palate, the fruit is persistent and abundant. Lovely concentration without being overly “heavy”. The fine-grained tannin keeps building in the mouth and with the balanced acid provides a classy framework for the pure red fruit to express itself. A beautiful wine.' – Winemaker

Marras, The Trickster Cinsault 2020 – R 85
'Raspberry, cherry and pomegrenate. Handpicked grapes, cooled overnight. 100% whole bunches. Cold fermented over seven days at 17’C, no extraction was done. Spent three months on the lees after being bottled unoaked. A Light styled summer red - serve chilled' – Martin Lamprecht, Winemaker

Radford Dale, Thirst Cinsault 2020 – R 165
'Another esoteric varietal from around Stellenbosch, near us. More fresh than the Gamay, the Cinsault has cranberry, crunchy dark cherry character and grippier tannins. This wine has attitude but delivers as much refreshment as the Gamay.' – Winemaker
