Alexandre and Marie Copinet both come from long lines of vignerons, and the husband and wife team look after nine hectares of grapes in the Côte de Sèzanne. This exquisite 100% Chardonnay is a solera of three vintages from 40-year old vines in Montgenost and Villenauxe la Grande. Right now it’s youthful and mineral, yet concentrated and textured. It unfurls in the glass to show more florals and finesse, with a silky, chalky finish.

For more than 30 years, Luigi Baudana has been a well-kept secret among Barolo lovers. As one of Piedmont’s smallest estates, they’ve crafted minute volumes of classical Barolos from their tiny cellar in Serralunga d’Alba. Grab the last few bottles from the 2018 vintage – each capturing the alluring red fruit, tobacco and leather spice of Barolo. The Baudana 2018 is generous and round, whilst the Cerreta 2018 is austere but powerful and needs time to evolve. Their elegant Serralunga d’Alba 2018 offers cherry and blood orange, with earthy undertones.

This Vouvray property produces intense, structured Chenin Blancs that are indicative of their three terroirs. Whilst they believe the ‘essence of Loire Chenin Blanc is captured in the sweeter styles’, their dry (Sec) styles are worth seeking out! The Huet Le Haut-Lieu Sec 2022 is delicious straight out the gate and most approachable in its youth. Raised on deep clay-limestone soils, it balances generosity, complexity and minerality.
